Name Servers: Pointing Your Domain Name [Linux Plans]

Domain Name Servers (DNS) are used to point your domain name to your web hosting space, in order to display your web site. Within your Domain Registrar account manager, you need to update DNS settings for your domain name to:

NS1.DRVTHRU.ORG
NS2.DRVTHRU.ORG

Once your name servers have been updated, it can take between 12-48 hours to propagate. Domain propagation is the process of your registrar handing off the changes to your domain to ISPs, ISPs to other ISPs and so on until you see the changes reflect on your computer with your internet service provider (ISP). Some service providers update their records more often than others and receive changes faster. As a result of this, often you will not be able to browse to your website by its domain name, while someone else can. In the meantime we provide you with a temporary address in your welcome email which allow you to start working on your site immediately.

How To Update Your Domain Name Servers

1. Browse to Drive Thru Domains, and click on the "My Account" link in the top/center of the page. Once you are at this page, enter your login information:





2. Once you are logged in, click on "Manage Domains"





3. In your Domain Name List, check the box next to your domain name, and then click the "Set Nameservers" button.





4. On the next screen, select the "Custom Nameservers" option, and enter the name server addresses into the spaces provided:
   
   NS1.DRVTHRU.ORG
   NS2.DRVTHRU.ORG
   
   When you have entered the name servers, click the green "Save Changes" button.





5. Once you save the changes, you will receive a "Your changes have been submitted!" confirmation screen.





6. Once you have completed the update, it can take between 12-48 hours to propagate.
