Your domain name is required to host your website. Typically, your website domain name will end in "dot com," but there are several alternative domain extensions such as: .NET, .ORG, .US, .INFO, .NAME
To register your domain name, go to www.DriveThruDomains.net and follow the instructions below.
- Under "Start Your Domain Name Search Here," enter the domain name (dot com) you would like to use to check for availability. Click "Search."
- If your domain name is available, check the box, and click the "Continue" button (scroll down).
- Choose "I would like to create a new Drive Thru Domains account."
- Enter your contact information and click the "Continue" button.
- Complete the "Domain Use Information", and click the "Continue" button. This is only a survey, and your answers do not change the registration process.
- Choose a "Public" or "Private" registration (Public is free).
- Choose the length of time you would like to keep this domain name (number of years).
- Point your domain name to Drive Thru Web Hosting by clicking the link that reads "ciick here to set nameservers."
- If you have a Windows hosting account enter the NS1/NS2.DRVTHRU.COM name servers in the spaces provided.
- If you have a Linux hosting account enter the NS1/NS2.DRVTHRU.COM name servers in the spaces provided.
- Choose your renewal preferences (Automatic or Manual renewal).
- Choose "Quick Checkout: I'm an expert user. Do not show me..." for a Checkout preference, and click the "Continue" button.
- Review your Shopping Cart which contains your domain name registration, and check the boxes next to "I have read the Domain Registration License Agreement" and "Universal Terms of Service." Choose your method of payment (Credit Card), and click the "Checkout Now" button.
- Enter your Account Owner information completely.
- Enter your Account Login information completely (important to remember this).
- Choose whether or not to receive informative Drive Thru Domains emails. Click the "Continue with Checkout" button.
- Enter your billing information (billing address of your credit card).
- Enter your credit card information (or relevant info for chosen payment method).
- Click the "Checkout Now" button.
- Type in the access code as it appears and Verify Code.
- You now have a domain name registered! You will receive a confirmation email as a receipt for your order. Click "Login to My Account" if you'd like to make any changes to your domain name registration.
